When love found a way
Original A2 drawing, graphite on paper.
Andrew says:
“It was a brutal lockdown during covid, suddenly groups of people we classed as ‘vulnerable’ or ‘at risk’. We weren’t allowed to see relatives or friends and we began to miss those who mattered.
My drawing depicts a moment where an elderly lady is ‘visited’ by her grown-up granddaughter. It’s been raining and they touch hands through a window as drops of rainwater run down the glass. They both wear masks to stay safe but their tears show their painful reunion during this unimaginable time.
The reflection in the window shows a life outside the lady’s house where no doubt countless other families were going though the same torment.
The granddaughter presses her face against the window for a moment; when love found a way.”
